River

A river with mystic and romantic stories that is Nile.  “Death in the Nile” was published on Nov 1937 and “Daughter of the Nile” was published on July 1976 are famous books.  I read “Daughter of the Nile” when I was kid and like this book.  It provides many thoughts and I imagined it has love, beauty and life that happened among this river, and the romantic love story of the daughter of Nile 



Nile

The Nile River is the longest river of the world.  It is risen from Burundi cross Egypt then goes to South Sudan with an approximate length of 4,160 miles.  The second longest river is Amazon located in South America, its source in Peru flows through Brazil into the Atlantic Ocean and its approximate length is 4,049 miles.  Amazon River is the world greatest river, it carry largest volume of water discharged into the sea.  The generally accepted method among scientists is to measure the length of the longest continuous river channel in a given river systems.  Water is a life source to human.  It has the longest history and oldest story.  However long of the river, it feeds everything; it gives life in the earth.  The river has many mouths which join together flowing into the sea and it also creates waterfalls.  The river flows like a dance and it’s collision like a song. 



France is a beautiful country with art and sense of romanticism.  The Eiffel Tower and The Louvre are part of its cultural heritage.  The Mona Lisa has her room in Louvre.  The longest river in France is Loire River (630 miles) and the last wild river in all of Europe flowing westward from the south of Cevennes into Orleans and the city of tours, and spilling into the Atlantic Ocean at Nantes.  On the 2nd December 2000, the Loire River was recognized as a World Heritage site.  The UNESCO committee said that the Loire is “an exceptional cultural landscape, of great beauty, comprised of historic cities and villages, great architectural monuments – the Châteaux – and lands that have been cultivated and shaped by centuries of interaction between local populations and their physical environment, in particular the Loire itself.”

I like rivers because it is powerful.  The beauty of it’s unlimited energy create life.  It is life source to the earth.

Water Drop


There are some days raining from winter to spring in Hong Kong.  I hate bad rain.  There is black cloud on the sky, it is bad weather cloudy and wet when it is rainy day. The sun cause the water to evaporate, the evaporated water floats up  into the atmosphere, the water vapor cools down and condense to form clouds.  When clouds condense enough, the water vapor will turn back into a liquid and fall to the earth as rain.  This is called the water cycle.  The rain drops falling down on the farm, tree, flower, grass, river and ground.  Water drop feeds land and animals, water the plant, the plant grows up after rain.  Afterward sunray gives light and warm to the earth take care of the land.  The water drops before dry on the leaves, it is small and transparent, which looks like a little crystal.  I like to catch this beautiful moment.

Meteor Shower


I set by the window at night, looking through the glass on the night sky.  I saw the moon and stars.  They are shining and beautiful at every night. In some old stories, it saying a star falls, a soul fill up and rise to heaven bring together your wish to God. When you make a wish at once you see the Meteor, meteor will catch your wish make it comes true. Meteor comes from past cross present go to future, your wish would finally realized.


I missed a time to see Orionid Meteor Shower in Hong Kong at 2012. The great time (Hong Kong time) was from Sunday 21 October 11:59pm to the peak period on Monday 22 October 4:30am. The best viewing conditions will be in the predawn hours on Sunday the 21st away from the city lights. The zenith each outgoing rate ZHR,: 20 pcs meteor.

Meteors are bright trails of light in the sky when interplanetary particles or meteorites enter the Earth's atmosphere at high speed and burn in friction.

Sometimes, many meteors streak across the sky with similar trajectories forming meteor showers. These meteors appear to emanate from the same point in the sky. Meteor showers typically last a few hours to a few days and recur every year though with varying intensities.

Let us to know more about meteor shower :

The meteor shower is that many of the meteor from the sky in a so-called radiation point emitted by astronomical phenomena in the night sky. There float in the vast reaches of our Solar System swarms of sand bits and dust clods known as meteoroids. When these "space debris" tear into the Earth's atmosphere, air friction causes them to burn, forming momentary bright streaks that blaze across the sky. These are the meteors that we see from time to time.

Meteors often appear as sporadic lonely streaks that traverse somewhat random paths in the sky. This sporadic activity, which persists throughout the year, can account for about 10 visible meteors every hour on a clear night.

A "meteor shower" occurs when our home planet encounters a relatively dense region of meteoroids in space. An unusually large number of meteors can then be seen streaming from a certain point in the sky known as the "radiant". Most astronomers believe that meteoroids are of cometary origin. They are leftovers from periodic comets or are even fragmented comet nuclei. This at least accounts for the fact that a particular group of meteoroids shares with its parent comet more or less the same orbit, which can remain relatively unchanged over eons. An immediate consequence is that our Earth makes periodic rendezvous with this meteoroid swarm, thereby culminating in a regular display of these celestial fireworks. To name a few, we have the Lyrids in April and the Geminids in December.

Most of the meteor body than even small gravel, almost all meteoroids will be destroyed within the atmosphere, it will not hit the Earth's surface and able to hit the fragments of the Earth's surface is called a meteorite. A large number of special or unusual performance meteor shower will be referred to as "prominent meteor" or "meteor storm" may hour meteor will be more than 1,000 pieces.

Footprints In The Sand

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. 
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. 
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me"
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.  
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints in the sand, it was then that I carried you."

Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis


When I see some photos of aurora I think it is amazing, it is so beautiful when the lights in the sky, how wonderful of aurora is a nature to people lived in the earth, people even travel thousands of miles just to see the brilliant light shows in the earth's atmosphere.  We would smile on this nature and praise to God for this gift to us. Aurora will happen in northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere, they are aurora borealis (the Northern Lights) and the aurora australis (the Southern Lights).  We can see aurora in the clear and darkness sky by the time of sunrise and sunset, people would see aurora from dusk to dawn throughout the night, so the best way is watching around the midnight, aurora happens in three to four hours.  The northern hemisphere has winter and the darkness, which is essential to see the aurora, the South Pole has bright daylight all day long. 
So the only time to watch southern lights in Antarctica is during fall and spring. The best places to watch aurora are high northern latitudes during the winter in Alaska, Canada, and Skandinavia.
What causes the aurora?

It is energetic charged particles from the magnetosphere.  Definitely aurora is precipitating energetic particles which are electrons and protons that are energized in the near geospace environment.  This energization process draws its energy from the interaction of the Earth’s magnetosphere with the solar wind.
The auroras both surrounding the north magnetic pole (aurora borealis) and south magnetic pole (aurora australis) occur when highly charged electrons from the solar wind interact with elements in the earth's atmosphere. Solar winds stream away from the sun at speeds of about 1 million miles per hour. When they reach the earth, some 40 hours after leaving the sun, they follow the lines of magnetic force generated by the earth's core and flow through the magnetosphere, a teardrop-shaped area of highly charged electrical and magnetic fields.
As the electrons enter the earth's upper atmosphere, they will encounter atoms of oxygen and nitrogen at altitudes from 20 to 200 miles above the earth's surface. The color of the aurora depends on which atom is struck, and the altitude of the meeting.
  • Green - oxygen, up to 150 miles in altitude

  • Red - oxygen, above 150 miles in altitude
  • Blue - nitrogen, up to 60 miles in altitude
  • Purple/violet - nitrogen, above 60 miles in altitudeb

Photographic film has a different sensitivity to colors than the eye, therefore you often see more red aurora on photos than with the unaided eye. Since there is more atomic oxygen at high altitudes, the red aurora tends to be on top of the regular green aurora. The colors that we see are a mixture of all the auroral emissions. Just like the white sunlight is a mixture of the colors of the rainbow, the aurora is a mixture of colors. The overall impression is a greenish-whitish glow. Very intense aurora gets a purple edge at the bottom. The purple is a mixture of blue and red emissions from nitrogen molecules.All of the magnetic and electrical forces react with one another in constantly shifting combinations. These shifts and flows can be seen as the auroras "dance," moving along with the atmospheric currents that can reach 20,000,000 amperes at 50,000 volts. (In contrast, the circuit breakers in your home will disengage when current flow exceeds 15-30 amperes at 120 volts.)
The auroras generally occur along the "auroral ovals," which center on the magnetic poles (not the geographic poles) and roughly correspond with the Arctic and Antarctic circles. There are times, though, when the lights are farther south, usually when there are a lot of sunspots. Sunspot activity follows an 11-year cycle.

The next peak will occur in 2011 and 2012, so opportunities to see auroras outside their normal range should be good. Why don’t spend time to see this natural phenomenon when our life is short?  Why don’t spend time to love nature when it is here for you? Why don’t spend time to relax when it is valuable?  Auroras has always fascinated mankind, It is mirable and incredible, deeply impression in our heart. What is a tree ?



The tree is a woody perennial. This is the most common definition for woody plants, there are many secondary branches supported clear a main stem or trunk on the ground there is a clear apical dominance. The wood from the tree is the main source of energy for a building material, as well as many developing countries.

With estimated at 100 000 tree species, the number of tree species worldwide might total of 25% of all biological plant species. Tree ferns, horsetails and lycophytes, it grows in the forests of the Carboniferous period, tree ferns still survive, but the only surviving horsetails and lycophytes are not in the form of the tree. The functions of tree in the earth are as following:

(1) Reduce the temperature of the woods

Walking under the hot sun, see the shade of a tree, it is natural will go past shade. Because most of the sun will be the crown block, and absorb as transpiration and photosynthesis, the temperature is lower under the tree.

(2) Increase in the woods humidity

Oldest Tree
ScienceDaily as at (Apr. 16, 2008) reported the world's oldest recorded tree is a 9,550 year old spruce in the Dalarna province of Sweden. The spruce tree has shown to be a tenacious survivor that has endured by growing between erect trees and smaller bushes in pace with the dramatic climate changes over time.

Tallest Living Tree
The tallest tree in the world is a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), named Hyperion after a person in Greek mythology. The tree is no less than 115.55 m (379.1 feet) tall! This enormous tree was discovered only in August 2006 in a remote part of the Redwood National Park, California by naturalists Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor.

Tree





My feeling of the tree is strong and grand, it’s stem and branches spread freely is amazing and beautiful. A young tree is called seedling, green grass and delicacy.  The tree is a plant with a woody trunk and branches, it can survive for many years. Generally, we call the tree has significantly upright trunk, the plants are tall, the branches are high above the ground, form the crown.  Tree is very important to human. It provides oxygen, which is lung of the earth.  When I walk into the park or up to hill, I see the tree it helps people shelter from sunray getting cool place, take rest, picnic, children play, friends and family gathering under the branches and leaves.  They smile and enjoy the time of sharing under the tree with the nature.  A dense growth of trees and a forest are rare in the modern city, we will have sight for these landscape in environs. It is so beautiful of a great forest, which is happened in the field.

Corallite




In 2007 summer, I travelled to Sanya, Hainan Island for holidays. Everyday in Hainan Island was sunny.  Sanya is a noted tourist resort with mountains, sea, river and city.  The whole of Sanya is related to the sea, it has long coastline, possess a number of excellent harbors and a unique tropical oceanic landscape. It has very nice beach and having sun shine everywhere.  If you do like the sunlight, beach and suburban scenery,  Sanya is a very good choice and relaxing, you are undisturbed for sunbath in there.   You will have a enjoyable vacation.  I remember when I was walking in the beach, the ocean wind and sunlight made me so comfortable and relaxing, I could hear the sound from the wave and stone, breeze was gentle through me to clean my tiredness. It was very incredible enjoy. Suddenly, I saw a stone under the ocean.  After ebb it appeared clearly, it was a Corallite under the water, it was white and coarse. It was beautiful.  I took a photo, left it and back home, I was wonder what is it and how it becomes a Corallite?  I read an article for it.

The corallite is a coelenterate, a life in the oceans posture delicate and elegant, the color is called coral polyps. It can secrete a calcareous skeleton of the red, white and other colors, and cluster them from sticking together dendritic known as the coral. Usually people think that coral is a plant, which is a misunderstanding. Corallite hardness of 3.5, is relatively soft, but very tough, can be easily processed with a knife or a file or in the rotation of the lathe. Raw coral material is dull shiny, almost polished shiny glass.

The corallite color of red, pink, white and black four. Most white color like milk. It made ​​the ornaments worn on the sea-blue summer, if people can feel the breeze of the tropical sea breeze. Almost purple, red coral and pink, the latter in Europe and America have always loved to call it as "Angel Face". Also, a black coral from the southeast coast of Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. Rainbow


Raining will happen through out the year, it is a natural phenomenon.  The season of rain always in the spring, the rain water all the plant in the earth.  It offer the source of live and cleanout the world.  In the summer, it always has a semi-circular rainbos in the sky of the sun opposite after heavy rain. How does it happen? The rainbow is rainy and sunny after the rain on the occasion of sunlight remaining in the air drops refraction, scattering colorful light. The sunlight through the prism of the prospects direction will be deflected, and the original white light line is broken down into seven kinds of red, orange, yellow, green, green grass, blue, purple colour band of light.
After the rain, it always is happened after heavy rain, there are many tiny water droplets floating in the air, refraction will occur when sunlight into small droplets then it disperse seven kinds of colors of light.  A lot of small droplets at the same time and the refraction of sunlight, then it reflect into our eyes, so we will see a article semicircle of the rainbow in the cloud. Rainbow ribbon distinct red emission in the outermost, followed by six kinds of colour; orange, yellow, green, green grass, blue, purple.  
The size of the droplets in the air, determine the extent and width of the rainbow colorful. The greater the volume of small droplets in the air will occur the bright rainbow and narrow; the contrary, smaller size water droplets in the air will occur rainbow colour on light and wide.
Normally, we will often see the two rainbow appear in the usual rainbow outside the mind, but the darker side of Rainbow (also known as Ni). Ni is also called "Vice Rainbow”, formed roughly the same with the rainbow principle. Vice rainbow sun made ​​of droplets in the two reflections. The temperature of winter is low, it is not easy to has small water droplets in the air and no many rainy day, so winter is generally no a rainbow in the sky.
At the end of spring between the begining of summer, many times I saw a  rainbow in the sky after the heavy rain within one month.  I usually see the primary rainbow in the sky, I think it is wonderful and becautiful, which is natural beauty, true and impressive.  It is so beautiful of a rainbow put up in the cloud after rain, which is eternal beauty of world.  Someday, I saw two rainbows in the sky, one is primary rainbow more bright and one is vice rainbow unconspicuous. Then I caught this moment and took a photo of it.

Rainbow occur in the cloud, which is special meaning of the Christ or Catholicism , it is the covenant between God and human.  In Genesis was recorded after a flood to destory the earth, God have established everlasting convenant with the earth.  Rainbow is wonderful and a sign of this memory, it ever will be appeared after rain in the sky.

12 God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be for a sign of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 It will happen, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud, 15 and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 The rainbow will be in the cloud. I will look at it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
